We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Winchester Guitar Festival will be taking place from 14-16 June with a fabulous line-up of guest artists, concerts and workshops.

This year’s celebrity concert series will feature Canadian guitarist extraordinaire, Laura Young, who has certainly been on our ‘wish list’ for several years. We finally have her in our clutches and can’t wait to hear her give our opening night concert in a delicious programme of Bach, Reger and Domeniconi: a rare UK performance from a true artist and one not to be missed – Friday 14 June, 7.30pm WDC
On Saturday, it is the turn of the Eden Stell Guitar Duo, who are “blessed with impossibly wonderful technique and an exceptional delicate touch” (The Observer) as they perform works by French baroque composers, Couperin, Rameau, hauntingly beautiful Catalan folksongs by Mompou and contrast this with the explosive virtuosity of Tango legend, Astor Piazolla – Saturday 15pm June, 7pm (1 hour concert) WDC
**NEW** for 2013 is our late night lute concert in the ancient setting of St Lawrence Church with master of the lute, Matthew Wadsworth. A perfect place to experience the intimacy of this beautiful instrument in the hands of a performer who ‘dazzles with his dexterity’ (BBC Music magazine) – Saturday 15 June, 9pm (1 hour concert) St Laurence in the Square.
Fresh from their success at the Southampton Festival of Music and Drama we invite the POP-UP Guitar Orchestra to take centre stage at Winchester Discovery Centre for a free concert on Saturday 15 June, in the cafe from 11am (approx 1 hour)
We are delighted that this years to have Paul Normal for our Young Artist Platform concert on Friday lunchtime at St Lawrence’s who is making a name for himself in the cutting edge world of modern music not only as a performer but also as a composer. He is a regular performer in Birmingham’s contemporary music scene and performs with Decibel ensemble and was selected this years Park Lane Young Artists at London Southbank Centre where he premiered new guitar solos – Friday 14 June, 1pm St Laurence in the Square.
